Like any good river story, Ashley and Johnnie’s journey didn’t begin with a perfectly mapped route. It began with a leap into unknown waters in the winter of 2021, when the world itself was just beginning to find a new flow.Their paths didn’t cross on a trail or at a boat ramp, though many might assume so. Instead, they both cast a line into the digital waters of Tinder. Neither of them was fishing for anything shallow—they were each searching for something real, something steady… a connection that could truly hold.Ashley was drawn in by Johnnie’s fishing photos, while Johnnie found himself hooked on Ashley’s gardening world. What started as a few messages turned into a steady exchange that flowed for nearly a month before they decided to meet in person at a coffee shop in Englewood. That first meeting was nothing but smooth waters.It didn’t take long for Johnnie to realize Ashley wasn’t someone who just dipped her toes into life—she was all in. After their first meet-up, he walked her to her car, and as she swapped her suede shoes for snow boots, he caught a glimpse into her world in the back of her hatchback: snowboarding gear, a full winter sleeping setup, and a Yeti cooler packed and ready. Safe to say, he was impressed.As for Ashley, the moment she looked into Johnnie’s eyes, she felt that rare, genuine spirit. It was the kind of presence that feels like still water after a long day on the river. It quickly became the steady current beneath everything they would build together.From there, their story flowed naturally—hikes, home-cooked meals, and the occasional adventure tracking down Ashley’s pup, Yote, when he decided to run wild. Somewhere along the way, Johnnie realized Ashley wasn’t just another catch—she was the real deal, a sentiment often echoed by his loving mother, Maribeth.As their relationship deepened, it was time to test the line. Johnnie introduced Ashley to his sister, Lindsay, at a local Korean restaurant. In true foodie fashion, the siblings tossed her straight into the deep end, challenging her to try chicken feet. Without hesitation, Ashley rose to the occasion. After all, she’s the type who believes anything is worth trying… at least twice.Then came a weekend that would deepen the current even more. Ashley was invited on a bonding trip to Breckenridge with Maribeth and Lindsay—a girls’ weekend that quietly became something much more meaningful. She made a promise to herself to show up fully as her authentic self, beyond her typically shy demeanor—and she did just that.What started as a casual night out turned into a full-on dance floor takeover at a Breckenridge bar called Gold Pan. Ashley showed the ladies exactly how to let loose—spinning, laughing, and dancing to ’90s hits like true river souls who had found their rhythm. Turns out, she can tango with the best of them.The night didn’t end there. They danced their way back to their rental, warming their feet by the fire and sharing stories about Johnnie and the mischief he got into as a young teen. Laughter filled the room, and something deeper settled into their hearts.That weekend, Ashley didn’t just bond with them—she found a sense of home. She realized how special this family was and knew, deep down, that it was a safe place to begin planting roots.Then it was Johnnie’s turn.Ashley invited him to her hometown of Montgomery, New York, where he would meet her small-town family and friends—a true rite of passage. First up was winning over her father, Charles. As it turns out, Johnnie didn’t need much time. The two bonded over childhood fishing stories, reminiscing like a pair of old river rats. Ashley’s dad admitted he never quite mastered a fly rod—especially after breaking his father’s while trying to learn as a young “guppy.”From that moment on, Charles was hooked. He truly loved Johnnie, and that meant everything to Ashley—especially because Johnnie had the chance to meet him before he passed away the following year.The current didn’t stop there. Ashley’s siblings—Scott, Rae, and James—made sure Johnnie could “hang” with the crew, and he passed without missing a beat. He has a way of stepping into any circle and finding his rhythm, a skill shaped by his parents, Maribeth and John. Whether it’s storytelling, quick wit, or his deep knowledge of music and rap lyrics, he proved he could keep up with even the strongest New York personalities.Finally, Johnnie won over Ashley’s mom, Gigi. The two stayed up late, bantering about baseball legends and flipping through her scrapbook filled with newspaper clippings from her days as an All-Star pitcher—a local legend in her own right.Gigi quickly adored Johnnie and often told Ashley, “I’ve never seen a man look at you with so much love and admiration.” She was deeply moved by how much he loved her daughter.As time went on, trust built like a river carving its path—slow, steady, and undeniable. What began as two people navigating uncertain waters became something strong, grounded, and full of life.Together, Ashley and Johnnie found their rhythm, flowing side by side—wherever the current (or Yote’s nose) may lead them.

Amy is Ashley’s lifelong childhood friend from Montgomery, New York — so close they’ve always felt like sisters from another mother. Their bond runs deep, woven through childhood memories, shared milestones, and even a friendship between their mothers that continues to this day. True bonds like these are rare.

Ashley and Amy have supported one another through every season of life. Ashley deeply admires the way Amy has blazed her own trail, raising a beautiful family and pouring her heart into her three superstar kids. A true soul sister, Amy has been a steady source of love, laughter, and strong friendship through it all.

Flutura has been a dear friend of Ashley's for the past six years. They met while working together at a spa in Breckenridge, where they spent many winter mornings carpooling through the mountains. Those drives quickly became a cherished tradition, filled with conversations about spirituality, the cosmos, personal growth, and life's deeper meaning.

A gifted massage therapist, Flutura possesses a healing presence that extends far beyond her profession. Her compassion and calming spirit have touched many lives, including John's family. During Maribeth's illness, Flutura shared her healing touch and brought comfort, peace, and kindness during a difficult time—something Ashley and John will always hold close to their hearts.

Ashley and John are deeply honored that Flutura will be reading a poem she wrote especially for their ceremony. Her words beautifully reflect the love, intention, and connection that define this day, and they are grateful to have her standing beside them as they begin this next chapter together.

Ashley admires Juliana for her quick wit, intelligence, adventurous spirit, and extraordinary hospitality. A true soul sister, Juliana has been a grounding presence through some of Ashley’s hardest and most transformative seasons, offering wisdom, laughter, and unwavering friendship along the way.

Ashley met Roo soon after moving to Denver, and she has been a soul sister ever since. One of those rare friends who always rises to the call, Roo is a force of nature — full of beauty, wit, charm, and unwavering determination. Ashley has long admired her belief in possibility, her ability to bring people together, and the way she inspires others to step into their strength. Through some of Ashley’s darkest seasons, Roo has shown up with love, wisdom, and encouragement, reminding her to trust her inner goddess. She is a true friend, a radiant spirit, and someone Ashley deeply loves and looks up to.

Rae is Ashley’s big sister and first lifelong companion. They shared the magic of childhood together and grew up cheering each other on as they found their own paths. Ashley is grateful for the ways Rae helped shape her, always encouraging her to think for herself, make her own choices, and look beyond limits. With her rebellious spirit, confidence, and natural magnetism, Rae was someone others were drawn to — admired for walking her own path and never being afraid to be herself. In many ways, she inspired Ashley to trust her own individuality and dream bigger. Their bond has grown and changed through the years, but beneath it is a deep-rooted love only sisters understand.

Their easy camaraderie and mutual support have guided them through many seasons of life. Jeffery’s steady presence and good humor have been a constant for Johnnie, and their bond has deepened over shared days fishing local rivers and lakes.

Those challenging trips revealed character, and Adam stood out as one of the most genuine people Johnnie knows. Their brotherhood continues to deepen with every river mile.

What is the dress code?Garden Party Attire. Think polished yet comfortable—flowy dresses, breathable fabrics, and relaxed suiting. Subtle western touches are welcome. Please read more on our attire page. Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?The ceremony and reception will be held outdoors in a garden setting and covered barn. Please plan accordingly for sun and grass underfoot. What time should I arrive?Please arrive no earlier than 5:00 PM. We kindly ask that all guests be seated for the ceremony by 5:15 PM, as the ceremony will begin promptly at 5:30 PM.Following the ceremony, please join us for the reception beginning at 6:00 PM at the White &amp; Black Stables. Will there be parking available?Yes, parking will be available on-site. Please follow posted signs and ask attendants for guidance. What should I wear on my feet?We suggest comfortable footwear suitable for grass—block heels, wedges, boots, or flats are great options. Will it be cold?Colorado evenings can cool down quickly once the sun sets. We recommend bringing a light jacket, sweater, or shawl. What will food and drinks be like?We’ll kick things off with a cocktail hour, followed by dinner served from our amazing taco food truck! You’re welcome to eat, drink, and enjoy throughout the evening. Are kids welcome?Yes of course! Though, we encourage parents to find a sitter to ensure a carefree evening to celebrate. Do you have a registry?Your presence is truly the greatest gift we could ask for. However, for those who would like to contribute, there will be a QR code at the welcome table for our Honeymoon Fund in lieu of a traditional registry. Thank you for helping us create memories that will last a lifetime! What happens after dinner?Dancing, drinks, and celebration under the open sky. The evening is designed to be relaxed, so enjoy it at your own pace.

Our celebration will be held outdoors in a farmhouse garden setting. We invite you to dress in a way that feels elevated yet comfortable, with a nod to a western garden party style. For the ladies: Flowy sundresses, light fabrics, and soft, romantic silhouettes are perfect. Feel free to incorporate subtle western touches like boots or hats while keeping the overall look polished. Florals, soft colors, and natural tones are always a great choice. For the gentlemen: Think relaxed and refined—button-down shirts, slacks, vests, or lightweight suits. Ties are optional. Western-inspired details like boots, hats, or bolo ties are welcome if you’d like to lean into the setting. As the sun sets, Colorado evenings can cool down quickly, so we recommend bringing a light jacket or layer.
